At least four people have been killed after heavy rain triggered flooding across Spain’s Mediterranean region.
Rescue teams have saved dozens of people left stranded by the rising water, some on rooftops and others trapped in flooded buildings or vehicles, Spanish public broadcaster RTVE reported.
The Valencia and Alicante regions have been hit hardest, with floodwaters swamping roads, homes and campsites. The flooding also reached the Balearic islands of Mallorca and Ibiza.
The regional government has declared its second-highest emergency level, and classes have been suspended in more than 40 towns across Valencia and Alicante.
