The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution condemning Iran’s attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Jordan.

Thirteen members of the 15-nation council voted in favour of the measure as Russia and China abstained.

The resolution, presented by Bahrain and co-sponsored by 135 countries, expressed strong support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence of the Gulf states and Jordan.

It condemned the attacks by Iran as a violation of international law and a serious threat to global peace and security.

The resolution also highlighted the targeting of civilian infrastructure, and demanded the immediate cessation of all attacks.
