Abu Dhabi Customs is warning customers to beware of fraudulent messages impersonating the authority and using official-looking language to appear genuine.
One such message, titled “Official Customs Hold Notice – Customs Tariff Classification Required,” falsely claims that a shipment has been placed on hold and asks recipients to take action and pay customs fees.
Abu Dhabi Customs has confirmed that the message is fraudulent and is not an official communication.
The authority is urging customers to be especially cautious with messages relating to shipments, customs transactions or payments, and to verify their source through official channels before taking any action.
Customers are advised not to click on links, open attachments, share personal, business or banking information, or make payments in response to suspicious messages.
Abu Dhabi Customs says all official transactions are carried out through approved systems and official digital channels.
Anyone receiving a suspicious message should not respond or share information, and should report it through the authority’s approved channels.
The warning is part of ongoing efforts to protect customers from fraud and impersonation and promote safer digital transactions.
