Action taken against social media account for promoting unverified health product

Authorities in the UAE have taken legal action against a social media account for promoting a product with unverified medical claims.

The UAE Media Council, in a statement posted on national news agency Wam, accused the account holder of misleading the public by advertising a product that lacked official approval from the relevant health authority.

The advertiser has also been held liable for violating the country's media advertising laws, the Council said, adding that it continues to monitor social media to check for illegal advertising campaigns.

The authority called on advertisers, both individuals and companies, to adhere to the regulations and standards set by the country.
