Hotels in Ajman are required to train their staff on handling situations related to COVID-19.

They must also allocate separate entry and exit doors in addition to providing enough masks for both guests and employees.

The latest guidelines have been issued by the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD), as part of the precautionary measures against the pandemic.

Hotels are only allowed to operate at 30 per cent capacity, including in restaurants, bars and cafes, while isolation rooms have to be set aside for suspected or confirmed cases.

They must place visible social distancing floor markings and install hand sanitiser dispensing units, while temperature checks are mandatory for all those entering an establishment.

The guidelines also prohibit the use of items such as leaflets, magazines and newspapers.

"We are working closely with our partners in the hospitality and healthcare sectors to overcome any difficulties during these challenging times, and will continue to promote Ajman as a leading tourist destination in the UAE," said Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, the ATDD's Director-General.
