Bereavement formalities in Dubai will be fast-tracked under a new system that will also offer mental health support to help children cope with loss of a family member, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced on Monday.
Under the 'Jabr' system, a dedicated Government Service Officer will be assigned to each case, to coordinate with relevant entities to complete necessary paperwork on behalf of the family.
Speaking to ARN News, Majid Al Mheiri, official spokesperson of 'Jabr' framework and Director of IT department at DHA, explained how the framework works:
A total of 230 trained school counsellors will be available to help students who've lost a family member, while a unified digital platform will notify relevant federal authorities as soon as a death is registered, speeding up the issuance of death certificates and completion of payment and legal services.
'Jabr' will expedite the procedures for transporting and repatriation of the remains based on the family's decisions and reduce the time needed to complete burial and condolence-related services.
Al Mheiri highlighted what makes the procedure convenient to use compared to the previous processes:
The system will see condolence tents at more than 70 locations, with an additional tent provided for Emirati families under the Community Development Authority, along with full hospitality services for the three-day condolence period.
Optional religious lectures for bereaved families are also provided by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department through qualified religious counsellors.
The 'Jabr' system reflects Dubai’s deep humanitarian ethos and takes into account the emotional needs of families during difficult times.
Al Mheiri further added on what makes the 'Jabr' system a special framework:
In a step that reflects Dubai’s deep humanitarian ethos and takes into account the emotional needs of families during their most difficult moments — and as part of the integrated shared services of the ‘City Makers’ initiative — the Dubai Health Authority announced a new phase… pic.twitter.com/IlzmRBLpt0
