Dubai Police warn of 'silent killer' carbon monoxide

In a new video advisory, Dubai Police have issued fresh warnings about carbon monoxide poisoning and urged residents to be extra cautious when inside closed places.

Terming it a "silent killer", Dubai Police urged people to install CO alarms in their homes to detect the "colourless and odourless" gas.

Carbon monoxide usually builds up indoors, especially near heaters, gas ranges and fireplaces, and closed vehicles, the authority added.

"Hire professionals to periodically service appliances. Never use essence or coal burners in closed places," they said in their advisory, reminding people to "ensure proper ventilation of closed places and use locally certified cooling/heating appliances".
