Dubai is stepping up efforts to improve truck safety on its roads with a summer awareness campaign targeting drivers and transport companies.
The initiative has been launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in partnership with Dubai Police.
Running until August, the campaign includes workshops, roadside awareness activities, and the distribution of safety guides at truck rest areas and along major roads, including Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
Drivers are being reminded to carry out regular vehicle checks, especially on tyres and brakes, follow traffic rules, and avoid stopping in the middle of the road.
In an emergency, they are urged to call 901.
The campaign also promotes the RTA's Truck Safety Manual, available in three languages, and encourages transport companies to maintain their vehicles, ensure drivers take adequate rest breaks, and prevent fatigue-related accidents.
As part of the initiative, the RTA and Dubai Police will continue monthly inspection campaigns to check truck safety standards and reduce road accidents across the emirate.
#RTA has launched a traffic awareness campaign targeting truck drivers and transport and freight companies, in cooperation with Dubai Police General Headquarters. The campaign runs throughout the summer from June to August, at truck rest areas and on main roads across Dubai.
