Final exams for Grade 12 students in IB schools in the UAE have been cancelled, keeping public safety in mind, International Baccalaureate Organisation announced.
According to a circular sent to Dubai IB schools, students enrolled in the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) in the UAE will not sit their May 2026 examinations.
“Following discussions with the Ministry of Education, the government has decided that IB Diploma and Career-related Programme students will not sit IB examinations," the circular read.
The IB Organisation added that students will be marked using the Non-Exam Contingency Measure (NECM), where final grades will be based on a combination of internal assessments, coursework, and other academic evidence.
This decision will be communicated to universities worldwide, the board added.
The IB exams were scheduled to be held from Friday, April 24, to Wednesday, May 20.
