Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Dubai Holding Community Management, is constructing two new pedestrian bridges on Palm Jumeirah as part of efforts to improve road safety and traffic flow.

The bridges will be located near Shoreline at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah and at Golden Mile beside the retail district.

Around 16,000 residents are expected to benefit from the project, which will provide safer and more convenient pedestrian crossings.

According to the RTA, the improvements are expected to reduce vehicle waiting times at nearby intersections by up to 50 per cent, shorten journey times and enhance connectivity between residential, commercial and tourism destinations across Palm Jumeirah.

The two bridges (each spanning 40 metres) will have a combined capacity of 2,700 pedestrians per hour and will be equipped with lifts to ensure accessibility for all users, including senior citizens and People of Determination.

The Shoreline bridge is scheduled for completion in June 2027, while the Golden Mile bridge is expected to be completed by October 2027.

The project forms part of a wider agreement signed between the RTA and Dubai Holding to enhance road infrastructure, improve access and implement traffic solutions across 15 areas and development projects affiliated with Dubai Holding, including Palm Jumeirah.

“At Dubai Holding Community Management, we take a long-term approach to the communities we create, continually investing in infrastructure that responds to the evolving needs of residents and visitors," said Francis Gianni, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Community Management.

"The new bridges will enhance accessibility and connectivity across Palm Jumeirah, while supporting safer pedestrian movement and smoother traffic flow," he added. "This reflects our commitment to creating future-ready communities that put people and their everyday experience at the centre."

Meanwhile, Hussain Al Banna, Chief Executive Officer of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said the project "reflects the strategic partnership between RTA and Dubai Holding to enhance the integration of infrastructure and road network projects with major developments".

"It also builds on the ongoing cooperation between the two parties to develop road networks and infrastructure serving major developments through integrated traffic solutions that respond to current and future growth requirements, improve connectivity between areas and key facilities, enhance safety and accessibility, and support sustainable urban development across the emirate,” he added.
