A man who went out of his way to erect makeshift barriers on the road to warn motorists of a large hole has been honoured for his noble gesture.
When Pakistani national Abdulaziz Abdul Hameed noticed that the side of a road in Sharjah's Al Sajaa area had partially collapsed following heavy rains, he placed barriers to alert road users and prevent any accidents.
Abdul Hameed's noble act was widely praised after his actions were captured by a passerby who posted the video clip on social media.
He was honoured in a ceremony at Sharjah Police headquarters on Thursday, in the presence of Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police.
The official stressed the force's keenness to honour such good deeds. "This honour comes within the framework of promoting social responsibility and encouraging positive behavior," he said.
