The UAE's COVID-19 safety protocols for Eid Al Fitr have been announced by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).

The duration of the prayers, including the Khutba (sermon) must not exceed 20 minutes and the gates of mosques should be opened after dawn prayers.

Worshippers are required to wear face masks at all times and maintain a distance of 1 metre.

The authority has urged the public to give Eid presents through electronic means and limit celebrations to immediate family members and relatives.

It has also advised maintaining a valid green pass on the Al Hosn app, and practising social distancing while interacting with vulnerable groups.

The guidelines were announced during a media briefing on Wednesday.

NCEMA's spokesman Dr. Taher Al Ameri said the country has made major strides in terms of recovery, which can only be maintained with the public’s continued support.
