The UAE has strongly condemned an aerial attack on two World Food Programme-contracted trucks carrying food supplies between Dilling and Kadugli in Sudan's South Kordofan State.
The attack resulted in the death of one driver.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to protect humanitarian and relief workers, while emphasising that humanitarian assistance must never be politicised or weaponised.
The UAE also renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire, an unconditional humanitarian truce and urgent, unimpeded access for aid organisations.
It also reiterated the need for a credible political transition led by an inclusive civilian government independent of both the warring parties and extremist groups.
The Ministry further underscored the UAE's support for ongoing peace efforts and called for intensified international action to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and help fulfil the Sudanese people's aspirations for security and stability.
