President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations with Cyprus during a phone call with the country's leader Nikos Christodoulides.
The two leaders explored opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and development sectors, in line with the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Christodoulides also thanked the UAE for supplying Cyprus with portable desalination plants to address water shortage in the country.
Since the early 2000s, Cyprus has been building desalination plants to meet around 70 per cent of the drinking water needs of its people.
The two leaders also discussed regional and international developments of mutual interest and shared their perspectives on key issues, national news agency Wam reported.
