UAE joins Kuwait in celebrating 64th National Day

The UAE will join Kuwait in celebrating its 64th National Day on Tuesday, February 25, a reflection of the brotherly and strategic ties between the two nations and their people.

Every year, the UAE marks this occasion with special events, including lighting up prominent landmarks with the Kuwaiti flag, displaying congratulatory banners and organising cultural and heritage celebrations.

The UAE-Kuwait relationship continues to be a model of strength and integration, spanning politics, diplomacy, economics and culture, under the leadership of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The two nations share a long history of strong ties, with Kuwait being one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the UAE after its formation in 1971.

Both countries opened their embassies in each other’s capitals in 1972. In recent years, they have taken further steps to enhance cooperation, including the 2006 agreement to establish the 'Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation', leading to numerous agreements across various sectors.

On the economic front, UAE-Kuwait relations continue to grow. In 2024, non-oil bilateral trade reached around AED 50 billion, marking a 9% increase from the previous year. Mutual investments between the two nations approached AED 20 billion by the end of 2022.

Cultural collaboration also remains a strong pillar of the relationship, with both nations exchanging knowledge and enhancing cooperation, while the number of Kuwaiti students in UAE universities exceeds 1,725, reflecting the growing educational ties.
