UAE plans nationwide events for International Workers' Day

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced a nationwide programme of events to mark International Workers’ Day on May 1, in collaboration with government and private sector partners.

Held under the theme 'One Family, One Nation', the initiative features 18 activities across 40 locations, celebrating workers and recognising their vital contribution to the UAE’s development.

The Ministry says the programme reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting workers’ wellbeing, promoting their role in the community and highlighting the respect and appreciation they receive across the country.

Events include a cricket tournament organised with the Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, as well as a Workers’ Race in Dubai’s Meydan area in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council.

Additional activities range from workplace visits and award ceremonies to gift distributions in shopping centres, organised with Majid Al Futtaim Group.

Teams will also visit labour accommodations across more than ten locations nationwide to check on workers’ wellbeing and express appreciation for their efforts.

At Dubai International Airport, arriving workers will be welcomed with gifts as part of a special reception organised in cooperation with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai.

The Ministry is also continuing its virtual workshops on health and safety in partnership with Emirates Health Services.

Officials say the initiative builds on last year’s outreach, which engaged more than one million workers through events held across the UAE.
