UAE public places, events to return to full capacity

The UAE will gradually lift capacity limits for all public facilities, events and activities with the aim of returning to full capacity by mid-February.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) said the move is in response to the drop in COVID-19 infections in the country.

Its latest directive will apply to various economic, tourism and entertainment facilities, as well as shopping centres and modes of transportation.

The maximum capacity for weddings and funerals will also be increased and local authorities in each emirate will determine the number of attendees allowed.

Meanwhile, the safe distance to be maintained at mosques has been reduced to one metre, with authorities closely monitoring the COVID infection rates over the next month before deciding whether to maintain or remove the safe distance in mosques.

NCEMA added that the disaster management committees in each emirate will be in charge of determining the capacity for individual emirate as well as easing or tightening the procedures.
