Watch: Reckless driver fined AED 50,000, 23 black points

A motorist has been pulled up by Dubai Police for tailgating and overtaking in a dangerous manner on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Traffic patrol officers closely monitored and recorded the driver's actions and chose the right moment to bring him to a safe stop.

The police released a video showing the motorist driving dangerously close to the other vehicle and braking multiple times after overtaking it.

The vehicle has been impounded, while the driver has been fined AED 50,000 and slapped with 23 black points.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said the driver's behaviour violates public standards and the rights of road users.

He stressed that no one is above the law, and added that aggressive driving behaviour demanded resolute action, leading to the implementation of Decree No. 30 of 2023 concerning traffic violations and the impoundment of vehicles.
