Dubai Police have arrested 14 members of an international criminal network and foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs, weighing 2.3 tonnes and estimated to be worth over AED 115.1 million, hidden inside 113 cartons.
Officers seized a variety of narcotic pills such as Xanax, Tramadol, and Lyrica, along with Alcon Mydriacyl drops, crystal meth, marijuana and paper laced with narcotic substances during the raid.
Dubai Police said specialised teams launched targeted operations and field surveillance after receiving intel that an international gang was preparing to "distribute a large quantity of narcotics and psychotropic pills within the country".
Following a "tight security" plan, the suspects were detained.
The suspects will be handed to judicial authorities for further legal action.
The authorities stressed that protecting the community, especially the youth, from the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances is a security priority.
