President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated the President of Tunisia, Kais Saied, on his re-election for a second presidential term, during a phone call on Thursday.
His Highness wished him success in leading his country towards further progress.
The UAE leader also expressed his commitment to continue working together to further strengthen relations between the UAE and Tunisia for the benefit and prosperity of both nations.
Kais Saied secured a second term as President in an election held last week, with more than 90 per cent of the vote and nearly 29 per cent voter turnout.
Saied's closest challenger, businessman Ayachi Zammel, won seven per cent of the vote despite being sentenced to 12 years in prison for reportedly falsifying documents - just five days before the poll.
He was widely expected to gain a second term after a crackdown on the opposition and potential rivals.
