World Health Organisation says UAE should lower speed limits to 50 km per hour

NULL

The UAE should lower speed limits to 50 km per hour in urban areas. That’s the message from the World Health Organisation, which says the Emirates also needs to pass laws on rear seatbelts and child restraints, to prevent deaths on its roads. Their experts say 26% of all road traffic mortalities in the country are pedestrian deaths, which suggests that speed reduction should be a priority. The UAE currently has a traffic fatality rate of 6.31 per 100,000 – that’s double the target outlined in the UAE’s National Agenda for 2021.
